Composition in The Dark Crystal

I recently got to show Sarah the Dark Crystal for the first time, and went back afterwards and screenshot-ed some of the frames to highlight composition...

I had never noticed how much the filmmakers used symmetry to allude to power (both in layouts and in radial elements in the production design [circles, triangles, and pentagrams]).

----------------------------Symmetry----------------------------

----------------------------Frame within a frame----------------------------

----------------------------Repetition, variety, unity----------------------------

They used these huge, sprawling, asymmetrical landscapes to communicate when settings were changing...

----------------------------Size (and symmetry, again, in the first one)----------------------------
